I'm not sure how to assign licenses and roles.

We've prepared a quick reference chart outlining what you can do with each license.

Understanding Licenses and Roles

To perform specific operations, you must hold the necessary license and then be granted permissions through a role.
You cannot perform operations if you only have a license or only a role assigned.

  • A license defines the scope of service usage based on your agreement. Permissions refer to what functions each user can access within that service scope, as determined by the customer.
  • Even if a license grants access, to actually perform operations, you must explicitly assign permissions (add, view, edit, delete) for the relevant features within the role settings.
Think of a license as defining "what you can potentially access," while a role controls "what you can actually do."
No License Role Operation Result Reason
1 Innovator Program Deletion Role Delete Program ✔️ Both License and Role are Granted, Allowing Operations.
2 Innovator None (Role Unassigned) Edit Ticket Operations Disabled: Role Not Assigned (License Alone is Insufficient).
3 Leader Program Editing Role

Edit Program

✔️ Both your license and role are granted, allowing you to perform operations.
4 Leader Project Editor Role Only Edit Ticket ✔️ Ticket permissions are inherited from the Project Editor Role, enabling operations.
5 Leader Program Editing Role (Inherited) Create Ticket ✔️ The Program Editing Role inherits lower-level operations, enabling you to perform them.
6 Collaborator Ticket Viewer Role View Ticket ✔️ Both your license and role grant viewing permission, allowing display.
7 Collaborator Project Editor Role Change Project Name Editing is not permitted due to license restrictions, even if a role is assigned.
8 Collaborator None View Project Viewing is not permitted as no role has been assigned. Even Collaborators require an explicit viewing role.
9 Collaborator Ticket Creator Role (Manually Assigned) Create Ticket Editing and adding are not permitted because your license is Collaborator, even if a role is assigned.
