Template Feature Overview
The template feature allows you to standardize and accelerate initial project setup by creating new projects from existing templates. This also helps prevent human errors that can occur with manual migration.
How to Use
Select your approach and template during the project creation workflow.
The main fields you will fill out are: Project Name, Project Code, Project Manager, Approach: Type, Approach: Select Template, and Time Zone.
-
For more details, see the documentation on Create a Project.
What is Duplicated
The following elements will be duplicated from the template:
-
The project itself (name, code, type, time zone, etc.)
-
Ticket templates and statuses
-
Tickets (maintaining parent-child and dependency relationships)
-
Custom field settings and their values
-
Dashboards (template, widgets, settings, default dashboard)
-
Project Manager permissions (the Project Manager role is automatically assigned)
What is Not Duplicated
The following elements will not be duplicated:
-
Teams
-
User groups, permissions other than the Project Manager role, notifications, logs, comments, and attachments
Important Notes
-
Project Code: Project codes cannot be duplicated. If you use a code that already exists, project creation will fail.
-
Project Manager: The Project Manager you specify must be an active user in the target workspace.
-
Template Source: Only projects can be selected as templates. Programs cannot.
-
Processing Time: The process may take some time depending on the number of tickets and related data in the template.
